ARTS ADMINISTRATION INTERNSHIPS offered by the London Gypsy Orchestra
We will shortly be interviewing for new interns to take over the following work experience positions. These are internships on a voluntary basis, suitable for enthusiastic individuals seeking a career in arts administration and keen to gain relevant work experience.
There are two roles available:
1. Events Promoter
This role involves promoting the London Gypsy Orchestra (full orchestra and smaller ensembles) to art centres, festivals, rural touring and agencies. This will include researching and contacting venues, promoting the groups, sending out information packs, following up, and checking basic practicalities, e.g. travel, distances, schedules etc. This position may also include some general orchestral and events-based admin and attendance and assistance at live music events.
2. Orchestral and Events Administrator
This involves general orchestral administration as well as event-related tasks, such as maintaining mailing lists, assisting with the new Friends of the LGO scheme, funding and marketing, and helping organise our upcoming events. This position may also require attendance and assistance at live music events.
For both roles good communication skills and an excellent command of English, as well as good computer skills, are essential.
Hours/Duration:
The work will take 6 – 10 hours a week, partly at the LGO office in Homerton and partly from home; ideally you will need to live within easy travelling distance of East London. You should have the use of a computer and regular internet access. We would like to negotiate agreements for a minimum of 4 months’ duration.
You will receive free tickets to all concerts and events, and of course references will be provided throughout and after completing the internship.
To apply:
Please apply with a CV and covering letter to Evrah: evrahevrah@yahoo.co.uk, stating which position you are interested in and why, as well as your availability over the next 4-6 months.
Closing date: February 19, 2012
