The London Gypsy Orchestra is open to intermediate and advanced players of any instrument, from any musical or cultural background, who have a passion for Eastern European Gypsy and folk music.
Learn music by ear (sheet music also available), explore style and phrasing, join in arranging it creatively for the orchestra and go out there and perform it - all in a joyfully inspiring, non-judgemental atmosphere, led by violinist Gundula Gruen.
All instruments are welcome, subject to vacancies - please enquire. At the moment we would particularly welcome another viola and any additional bass instruments, especially a tuba or sousaphone, as well as another percussionist. There are waiting lists for some instruments (especially flutes!).
EXPECTATIONS:
Members should have confidence on their instrument, though no experience or knowledge in improvisaton, harmony, or classical training is necessary.
